Helping others tends to be at the top of our list of things to do, however, too many times, life happens, and we wind up forgetting the good we set out to accomplish. Here are 3 tech-based charities that make giving back to those less fortunate easy, while making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

1. One Laptop Per Child

At One Laptop Per Child, the premise of the charity is to do exactly that: make sure that every child has a laptop for educational use. Focusing on mainly the lower income areas of the US and less fortunate populations around the world, this charity has created a laptop that is not only rugged and low cost, but low power. These laptops are composed of hardware to help students engage with their education by empowering them to learn, while connecting to the world around them, and creating a bright future. 

2. ACN & Project Feeding Kids

According to ACN, a multi-level marketing company, roughly 17 million children in North America have to worry about where their next meal will come from. With this in mind, they’ve teamed up with Feeding America and Food Banks Canada to not only fight hunger among children, but to empower families to live healthier, by donating one meal for every new customer they earn, and one meal for every on-time payment made by existing customers. Critics may call ACN a pyramid scheme, but the truth is, this company is working hard to better the community and world around it.

3. Change.org

While there are countless charities out there that need support, change.org allows you to set up a fund for your own cause, making it possible to spread the word about what you’re most concerned about, no matter how big or small. Want to raise money for the elderly woman down the street to install a wheelchair ramp at her home? Do you know of a local family in need of help with medical bills?
